Does Emily Post know Dead Mom etiquette?

So I was planning on visiting Our Dead Mom (RIP TLC, RIP) on Dead Mom Day. Bought the plane tickets and everything. Then my sister's sister invited me on an epic hiking trip which would necessitate me visiting Our Dead Mom (RIP TLC, RIP) NOT on Dead Mom Day, but on the day after. I can't say no to this hiking trip. Will Our Dead Mom understand? Is it horribly rude of me to ditch Dead Mom Day? Does Emily Post's Etiquette book have a chapter on Dead Moms or should I ask VonHottie?

Dear Mele,

Since we haven't visited our dead mom's grave on dead mom day for the past 16 years, I think it will be ok again this year. I mean, our dead mom hasn't been visiting me at night shrieking "Why are there no flowers on my grave? 16 years I've been dead and still no flowers!" So I think you're in the clear. You should totes go on the hike.

Love, Lalavon
